How long does an LTVP application take to process?
Most LTVP applications are processed within about 6 weeks. Where the Singapore Citizen spouse did not complete a Pre-Marriage Long-Term Visit Pass Assessment (PMLA) first, it can take up to 6 months. ICA notifies you of the outcome by email.
The standard timeline
A straightforward, well-documented LTVP application is usually decided within roughly 6 weeks. Requests for additional documents or an interview extend that, so an incomplete file is the most common cause of an application that drags.
Why PMLA matters
The Pre-Marriage Long-Term Visit Pass Assessment lets a Singapore Citizen check, before the marriage, whether the foreign fiance(e) is likely to be granted an LTVP. Where no PMLA was done, ICA carries out that assessment as part of the LTVP application, which is why processing can stretch to 6 months.
