What happens if my LTVP expires while the renewal is still being processed?
You will normally receive an email from ICA and your expiring LTVP is converted to a Short-Term Visit Pass so your stay remains lawful while the renewal is assessed. You do not need to leave Singapore, but you should keep the notification and watch the STVP expiry date.
How ICA regularises your stay
When a renewal is still pending at expiry, ICA generally converts the pass to a Short-Term Visit Pass automatically and notifies you by email. That keeps your presence in Singapore lawful — it is not a lapse in status and it does not prejudice the renewal.
What to watch for
A Short-Term Visit Pass is short by design. Note its expiry date, keep the ICA email, and follow up if the renewal outcome has not arrived before the STVP runs out. If you hold a Letter of Consent to work, check with MOM — a conversion to STVP can affect your right to work.
