Who is eligible for a Work Permit in Singapore?

The Work Permit is for semi-skilled foreign workers from approved source countries, hired for specific sectors such as construction, manufacturing, marine shipyard, process and services. It is employer-sponsored — the employer applies and owns the pass, and must meet the sector's quota and levy rules.

Employer-sponsored and sector-based

The pass is tied to a specific employer and sector — it is not a self-sponsored application. Age limits and minimum salary requirements vary by sector and skill tier, and the employer must hold quota headroom before applying.

Check the source-country list first

MOM only issues Work Permits to nationals of approved source countries and regions. If your nationality is not on the list, other passes such as the S Pass or Employment Pass may still be options depending on your role and salary.
