My pass, PR, or Citizenship application was rejected — can I appeal, and how soon?
Yes — ICA and MOM allow appeals to be filed as soon as you receive the rejection notice, and there is typically a window (commonly cited as around 6 months) before a case is considered closed. An appeal should include new or strengthened supporting documents, not just a repeat of the original application.
How an appeal works
An appeal is a formal request for the authority to reconsider its decision. It is reviewed against the same underlying criteria as the original application, which is why the strongest appeals show what has changed or been strengthened since the rejection — not simply restate the original case.
Timing matters
File as soon as you are ready, while the case is still open. While a window of around 6 months is commonly cited before a case is considered closed, don't treat it as a deadline to aim for — the longer you wait, the more the underlying facts may work against you, and an appeal does not pause any other deadlines you may be facing.
